Idioms and Phrases for exams(Bank PO/DRDO/SSC/IFSCA/EPFO/SEBI/RBI)
Idioms and phrases are very important as they are part of syllabus of various competitive exams in India.
What are Idioms?
An idiom is a group of words or an expression in a language that has a special meaning that cannot be directly inferred from the individual meanings of its components.
Idioms often have a figurative or metaphorical sense, and their usage may not follow standard grammatical rules.
In hindi vyakran ( हिंदी व्याकरण ), Idioms are called Muhavara (मुहावरा)
A phrase, on the other hand, is a group of words that forms a meaningful unit within a sentence. While phrases can be idiomatic, they don’t necessarily have to be. Idioms allow speakers to express complex ideas in a concise and often colorful way. They add flair to language and make communication more engaging.
